Rogue Invasion

First topic message reminder :

~A large number of rogues have been invading the territories, creating tension between the Clans and their members. As the Clans worry about being forced from their homes if they choose to take back their territory, they find themselves in the middle of a drought. Warriors and apprentices are becoming weaker by the day while many kits and elders have already perished. This story opens on a full-moon Gathering where some Clan leaders are concerned by a suggestion that Starclan has abandoned them. Other find themselves more concerned with how they will save their clan from their fate.


Brightstar entered the clearing with RiverClan at her heels, flicking her ears. The clearing was empty so far; RiverClan was first. "Remember," she warned. "Don't give away anything!" As murmurs of agreement sounded behind her, she turned and headed toward the Great Oak.

This is even worse than I thought! Maplestream realized. Poor Tribe, their territory was already dry enough without an additional drought. RiverClan was lucky, actually, to have access to so much water, even with the streams drying out. And then there were the rogues. Maplestream hated them, not just because they were trying to steal territory and fighting when, with so little supplies, cats needed to rest as much as they could. These rogues looked well fed, and their bodies showed no sign of the water shortage the Clans were struggling with. She couldn't stand their arrogance.
And why no action from above? Had the Clans somehow angered StarClan? Was StarClan abandoning them to die?

CheeseStar hesitated. She wanted everyone to have a share of water, but there was the sense of urgency that came with selfishness. It made her want to hoard all the water the Clan had. So, she concluded, "We don't have much of a supply. If we come across a good amount, I wouldn't mind sharing."

Ivystar looked up at Sorrelstar happily. "Really? Are you sure?" She lifted her head and smiled. She looked at the other leaders and dipped her head to the other leaders and sat back down, her tail wrapped neatly around her paws. "Who shall speak next?" Ivystar asked.

Sorrelstar smiled at Ivystar and stared back into the crowd. She yawned and looked down at Gingerblaze. What was she going to do with her? Gingerblaze ran her mouth at every gathering and interrupted the leaders. Did she make a wrong choice? Sorrelstar shook it off and decided to talk to her about it later.

Brightstar glanced at the sky again. The moonlight had already passed its zenith, and the silvery light illuminating the clearing had already dimmed and grayed some what. Did I miss anyone? Did everyone give their reports? Her ears flicked forward and back, then she said in an undertone, just loud enough for the leaders in the tree to hear, "Then the Gathering is at close?" She was anxious to return back to camp and check with Mistflower, the warrior she had put in charge of camp while the RiverClan patrol went to the Gathering. The water was not such a pressing problem right now, although both her and some other warriors feared that the Twolegs would use up all the water, although it looked unlikely at the moment. The rouges, well, there was nothing stopping the mangy idiots from attacking any Clans' camps while half the warriors were away at "some silly Gathering under the full-moon", as Brightstar was sure they'd put it.

Blossomheart fidgeted from the back of the clearing, peering up at CheeseStar. It made her uncomfortable at how friendly Sorrelstar had seemed, but she knew--or she thought she knew--there was no direct danger. Rubbing her fluffy paw over an itch on her muzzle, she listened to the other leaders talk about rogues. AwesomeClan had no troubles with the trespassers, since Blossomheart could think of no way how the rogues could get onto the clouds. The water was a problem though. As the itch persisted, she was tempted to smack her muzzle with her paw, since it was distracting her, but it would probably make her yelp, and she didn't want to attract attention. Bending her head, Blossomheart discreetly pawed at her muzzle, cursing the cause of the unknown itch. Her tongue felt thick and dry, and her mouth had taken to a slightly sour taste. She now avoided eating particularly sweet, salty, or bitter things, to decrease the necessity of drinking too much water.

Lionclaw was glad that Shadowclan was sharing water with the tribe. He was worried about his kits.

Streamfur was concerned about the rouges and the drought. She was especially concerned about the tribes lack of water since her littermate Lionclaw and his kits were in the tribe. She was glad that Shadowclan was sharing water with the tribe but she wished that she could have done something to help. She sat patiently as the gathering came to a close.

*EDIT: Lionclaw changed his mind about leaving so he doesn't want his character to be killed

Brightstar fidgeted anxiously, and glanced at the rest of the leaders form time to time. We need to finish this Gathering. Come on!

Phoenixwing glanced up at Petalstar. The rogues, well they were a problem since they kept coming over to IceClan territory and stealing the snowshoe rabbits and making theirselves known that they were there. A snarl curled her lip at even the thought of the arrogant intruders. Struggling to smooth her spiking fur, Phoenixwing ducked down beside Desertclaw to hide herself. The water wouldn't be a problem... unless the heat melted the snow too quickly and cause an all-out flood that is.

"Shall we end the gathering?" Petalstar asked, looking down at the other leaders with a questioning eyes. "I want to return to camp and make sure no rouges have broken into the Fortress. Not like it would be a problem. They'd never make it past all the traps and dead ends.....And why is Sorrelstar being so...'friendly'? Iceclan won't have a promblem with the water....unless the intense heat melted the snow and caused a flood.." Petalstar shook her head at the dreadfull thought, then remembered what she had asked the other leaders and then she returned her gaze to the other leaders.

Sorrelstar noticed the other leaders giving her strange glances. She cowered a bit and flattened her ears against her head. "Yes. An ending would be nice, Petalstar," she answered, trying to hide her worry, though the scent of it was strong in the air around the tree. Sorrelstar hoped no one would notice it but that was quite impossible.

Brightstar opened her jaws to announce the end of the Gathering when fear-scent practically smacked her between the eyes. It also carried the distinctive odor of ShadowClan. Hiding her distaste, the RiverClan leader yowled, "The Gathering is at end. May StarClan light your paths." She leaped down the tree with ease as soon as the words had left her jaws. Beckoning to Streamfur and Echosong, Brightstar bounded over to the rest of the patrol. "Up, up," she urged, flicking her tail. "It'll be better once we know for sure that the mangy rogues haven't swamped the camp." Even as she spoke, fear and worry swamped the RiverClan warriors and they started to move with greater haste. She glanced back up at the moon. A couple more shreds of black-ish gray clouds and drifted to cover the milky white sphere. The wind picked up, making the leaves rustle, and to Brightstar, they seemed to whisper, "Hurry, hurry. Hurry. hurry."

CheeseStar gathered her Clan as they made their way to the clouded hills. Tonight was strange; there was a fog that seemed to cling to everyone's whiskers yet the light of the glowing moon made everything clear. We need to start training the apprentices, she thought.

Maplestream could smell the fear scent too. It swamped over and influenced her, only made stronger by what Brightstar told the Clan. She didn't want to see the camp destroyed... Maplestream trotted faster to keep up with the Clan, and wordlessly fell in step just behind her sister. She strained her eyes, trying to see if the camp was still intact.

Sorrelstar slowly led her flan back to their camp. She begged the stars that nothing was stolen abd no one was hurt. She was relieved to find th camp in one piece when she arrived.

Ivystar and the rest of the Tribe ran back to the camp. Is it in one piece? Is it ok? Once they got there, they were happy to find it in one piece. There was one problem though... Snowfrost limped out of the warriors den and yowled, "We were attacked! Our water is gone!"

There was a flash of silver-blue and Iceclaw burst into the clearing. She spotted Brightstar's sleek fur and sprinted over lightly, her paws barely touching the ground. "Brightstar!" she mewed, soft enough for the RiverClan leader to hear.

~ Iceclaw's late for the meeting ~

Brightstar galced over her shoulder, ears laid back in surprise. "Iceclaw! You're late." She flicked her tail in slight annoyance, blue eyes narrowed. "Where were you?" Brightstar licked her dray paws, which were scraped and stinging slightly from walking on the empty, dry, pebbly riverbed all day. She wished she could ask Echosong for herbs, but the riverClan leader knew that they'd must save their supplies in case of an attack. A sigh rattled from her chest and Brightstar sat down grumpily, considering Iceclaw.

~ oh that's great! ~

Iceclaw licked a forepaw and mewed," We were attacked." She flicked her tail towards a patrol of RiverClan cats. She lowered her voice, a tinge of urgency in it," Some unfamiliar looking and smelling cats jumped at us but we chased them off." There was a hint of pride in her voice.

Is this still going on during the Gathering..?

~The Clans are going home from the Gathering.~

Maplestream's eyes widened in surprise. "And this was... just before or during the Gathering? Are you sure they haven't returned once you left?" She trotted forward and swiveled her ears so she could hear the she-cat better. She was anxious to get back and check if the camp was alright, but she knew she had to obey Brightstar's orders. Well at least we have a water supply, she thought, bouncing nervously.

Icee walked next to Petalstar, his fur brushing hers slightly as he looked at her reassuringly. "It'll be okay. I mean, how can we get hurt?" He chuckled and unsheathed then sheathed his shark claws. Signaling with his tail for the other IceClan warriors to follow them, he fell next to Phoenixwing. "As my most trusted warrior, I'd like you to gaurd the camp tonight. We've never needed to gaurd it before, but I just want to be sure," He kept his voice a whisper, making sure no one else heard but Petalstar. The black and white tom walked next to Petalstar again, asking who should lead the patrols and such. "I assigned Phoenixwing to night gaurd, I trust her the most. I just want to be absolutely certain no cats try to get in our camp."

Phoenixwing was ever so slightly amused. "I'm flattered," she mewed in amusement. "Are you afraid the rogues will try a night ambush?" The gray tabby asked, increasing her pace so she was trotting beside Icee. "Or other Clans? They seemed tense tonight." She kicked a pebble across the worn path, raising dust clouds as her gray paws scuffed across the dirt. Wrinkling her noice at the stuffy air, she muttered, "I can almost taste the heat!" Rolling her eyes, Phoenixwing sighed.

Icee's ears flattened against his head, and he shot Phoenixwing a cold look. "You should be. And don't ruine it with your attitude," He growled, obviously serious and now mad because he was sure the other warriors had heard her. "You'll be cleaning out the old moss. For a day." The black and white tom was hiding his anger, as he was used to veiling his emotions from others. Whipping next to Petalfrost, he didn't even say anything. As they got closer and closer to the Fortress, his breath could be seen, the same as all the other IceClan warriors. Walking as quickly as he could, he was ahead of all the other warriors, Icee motioned with his tail for the Warriors to catch up to him.

WOAH WOAH WOAH. Who's Icee? Who's Petalstar? What happened to IceClan?! Where's Shuriken? What the.....?

OOC: Ok, Kind of a long/ short story. Shuriken became inactive, and the site was dying, so Phoenixwing, an admin, decided to give each inactive clan a new leader. So, Snowlily became leader but then there was a fight and she was banned, and I was offered the job of leading Iceclan. Icee is my deputy and when or if Shuriken can come back, I will gladly give my spot back to him.
