The Menu (Open Kitchens)

So... i hope this isn't a wasted topic... but i had this idea and decided to add it here.
this topic is going to be a menu for the Open Kitchens. there will be one dish per post. there will be a picture and a description for each one. for now, i want to be the one to make them up. in the future, i might allow others to post also. this is the clan forum after all. let's start with the appetizer... here's an example....





romaine lettuce with full, juicy beefsteak tomatoes and sliced japanese cucumber. also sprinkled with aged cheddar cheese. there is also spinach in there. topped with vinaigrette made from: balsamic vinegar reduction, olive oil + dijon mustard emulsion and lemon zest.

Drink: Strawberry Smoothie, Coke, or Water

no one read it? o.o this could get out of hand... but i guess since we've already started, others can make up their own too. for your description mosspaw, how about: spaghetti in tomato-oregano sauce and a hint of herbs?

Woah! I'm not a favorite of salads, I prefer a big steak, but maybe some sushi platter for me since we got the smilies already?? :

sashimi!!!!! it looks cool, but i never tried it. o.o it's like raw fish sliced thinly and served on top of rice... sometimes with seaweed around it...

there's also a Hawaiian dish called "poke" )pronounced po-kay). it's cubes of raw fish (about the size of your average dice) mixed with ingredients like herbs and citrus i think.

today's special!!! seafood stew. made with: muscles, oysters, jumbo shrimp and chunks of blue fish. the broth has a little tomato in it, and there's parsley and secret spices.

Willowpool ate every bit of in in 3 seconds.

hey! Stormclaw protested. Fine. I'll get my own special dish. Mmmmmmmm... Crab cake.

today's special! sweet potato fries! seasoned strips of organic sweet potato/yam. lightly salted and baked to perfection. crispy on the outside, but fluffy on the inside. they're low in fats and sodium too! if you want, there's also ketchup.

Hmmmmm. I'll take a plate! Yum!

Special for chocolate lovers.

today's special: potato gnocchi! (basically dough stuffed with potato and various other delicious things [secret!] and boiled until it's soft.)

today's special! (i know i missed a day but i didn't want to post twice in a row cuz no one replied. o.O )

stuffed portabello mushroom ravioli garnished with herbs and bacon. also, there is a little cream sauce on the inside.

Special for strawberry lovers

special for today! pulled pork sandwich!

two pieces of soft toasted (and slathered with butter) white bread buns with slow smoked pulled pork. the pork has been marinated in a secret barbeque sauce (hint: there's traces of steak juices in there) and has been left to soak for a day.

Special for dessert

today's special...


baked macaroni and cheese using three types of cheese: cheddar, mozzerella and a little monterae jack cheese. baked with a crispy japanese panko bread crumb crust and served alongside some fresh salad (not shown). ^^
