Fugitives of Minioke Legions

Post by Scarheart on May 2nd 2015, 20:00

For starters I have been having a strange obsession with the 1930s and 40s. I don't know why but I guess this RP is going to be based in that time zone.

So yeah, it's the new year of 1931 in Mimioke (made up country, unknown to all like Atlantis.) There is only one city in the whole country, the rest is woods and dangers of the unknown. The city never permits anyone to exit the walls and in order to be sure no one does, the walls are high and heavily guarded. If anyone by any chance tries to escape they will be punished by order of the king. If one happens to escape they will be hunted and killed when spotted. Now one knows why you are killed once spotted but no one dares to leave the community.

Basically we create a character and have them escape and yada. This is a 1930 kingdom but it is highly developed with todays clothing and no electronics exist. This kingdom likes to keep their subjects poised and proper so by law females are required to wear dresses with hair up, as males must wear pants with sleeved shirts.

This roleplay we create human characters that escape through the walls and what not happens.

Name: Spook (Once was named Tim)
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Looks: A 5'10" teen boy with pale blond hair and pale skin with green eyes. He is deceptively frail and gaunt looking, and wears simple yet worn clothing such as an old shirt, faded trousers, worn shoes, and a beat up jacket. His hair is always messy and there's usually dirt on his hands from helping around at various shops .
Personality: Nice, passive, sneaky and quiet. Only turns to aggressive means when he's backed into a corner, and while cautious Spook prefers to give people the benefit of the doubt.
Address: An unmarked alley behind a bakery in the shopping district of the Pits, a poor part of Mimioke near the base of the wall, sometime just referred to as the nice part of Cesspool.
Relationships(label): ???
Extra: Orphaned when he was young, Spook was raised by various members of his neighborhood, and once he was old enough Spook began helping with the shops of the people who raise him. However, due to his appearance and how skilled he is at sneaking unnoticed even in a crowd, some people from other parts of Mimioke got the misconception that he was some sort of ghost, and so Spook abandoned his original name Tim and became Spook, a sort of mascot for the Pits shopping district. Since he helps attract people from other parts of Mimioke, the locals continue to support Spook and keep him safe from officials. Has occasionally dreamed of what it would be like to leave Mimioke one day, but has never considered actually trying to leave.

Name: Haylee
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Looks: A 5'8 girl with raven black hair tied in a messy braid and dark blue eyes. She wears worn-out pants, worn-out shoes, and a ragged shirt. (AGAINST THE LAW BROZ)
Personality: Even though she's homeless and orphaned, she still keeps up a positive attitude. She loves to prank other people, and has a happy-go-lucky attitude. Although, when severely angered, she has no qualms of attacking.
Address: Abandoned house in Cesspool
Relationships (label): N/A
Extra: Her parents had tried to escape when she was young, but they were killed, so she became an orphan, and was put into an orphanage. However, when she was old enough, she moved out of the orphanage (but they still supplied her with enough money for food and sometimes clothes) and found her own place. She desires to go outside the walls.

Name: Alyson
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Looks: 5'7" teen girl with a thin frame, blonde hair, and pale, blue-gray eyes. She wears a long, flowing dress the shade of a light turquoise with gold and on her feet a pair of knee-high golden gladiator sandals. Her hair is almost always styled with a braid and some curls in a ponytail, not to mention the white fedora atop her head.
Outfit:
Fedora:
Face & Hair:
Dress:
Shoes:
Personality: She seems incredibly proper at first glance, but after talking to her a bit, Alyson becomes this excitable, childish girl too young for her age. She always manages to sneak her way into trouble, but usually in her own home or around friends. She dares not do anything wrong in public, in fear of running into the law. She does get ideas, though, and sometimes suggests them to whoever is with her or purposefully trips over her own dress to cause havoc.
Address: Near the palace in a nice, three-story house with some of the finest furniture.
Relationships(label): Best friends with Prim ((More of a sisterly relation, but they aren't related so this is the closest thing to it))
Extra: Doesn't like being called "Aly"
A Bit of Backstory:
Raised with rich a rich family known among the royal family, Alyson was sheltered from the poorer world and told nothing about beyond the walls. She was specifically homeschooled, only to have life crash down on her when she was twelve and her mother died. She was exposed to the cruel reality, left only with her father and her mother's fedora. She ran away from home for a while, running into the poorer district where she stayed for two days before returning home, hungry and dirty. When she entered the building, she was met with her father and the king. It was then and there that she met Prim who she instantly took a liking to. Something about the girl's defiance perked her interest and so she began to shape her own personality, becoming a very mischievous girl in the privacy of her home. Her father, unsure of how to handle the transformation, allowed it as long as she didn't leave their property to openly do such. She agreed, making anything troublesome that she did outside of the house subtle. Over time, her and Prim grew close to the point where, should the princess's life be in danger, Alyson would gladly take the blow.

~Sorry for replying so late. Everyone is accepted and we can start RPing.~

It was noon. The abnormal country was pelted with the warm rays of the sun. Every building seemed to have a tint of orange at this point. Prim would gladly be hanging out with her friends if only there wasn't a royal council meeting going on at the moment...

Prim was running late- the usual. She was confined within her room with the royal dressers surrounded her. Prim ran around the large room throwing obstacles at the dressers.

"Like I said before I am not going to wear that poofy frilly baby dress! I'll lose all of dignity in that froufrou dress!" She hissed for the forth time. As always the dressers never seemed to listen.

"But miss, your father insists!"

"Well news flash, my father is nothing but a block head. Along with the brothers of mine. I can't even begin to explain you guys!" The room fell silent after her last sentence. No she wasn't the poised and proper princess you expected her to be. To her greatness the dressers left, but soon two of her brothers entered. The oldest and second in line. She scowled but soon her biggest brother picked her up and threw her over his shoulder.

"Let's go. Father is already furious with you and your choice of dressing. Not to mention your lateness."

For Spook it was just another day in the Pits. It was noon so the shopping district was full of people out for lunch and shops selling their wares, and Spook was following his usual routine of going around and doing errands for the shop-owners, as well as keeping a watchful eye for thieves. Spook didn't really watch for thieves for fear of something being stolen, that was rather expected for the Pits since they were right next to Cesspool, but he did keep a mental list of repeat offenders and did what he could to dissuade them from stealing from this street again, usually by living up to his fictional identity as the "Ghost of the Pits" and "haunting" them whenever they came back. 'I wonder if anything interesting will happen today?' Spook wondered absently as he carried some bread from the bakery to the cafe.

Today was just a normal day: fighting to survive, hearing the growls of her belly interrupt when she was about to rob someone, and dodging the rare guard so as not to get thrown in jail again because of her hair. Whenever she kept it long, people pulled it in fights, and that was unacceptable. She preferred getting in trouble over it rather than getting hurt. She smoothed her dress down, slipping through the crowds and looking for an easy mark.

Alyson had been laying in her bedroom almost all of that morning, not really wanting to move. Just a few more minutes, please... her wish was almost immediately denied by a knock on her door. "Alyson, come on down. Lunch time," her father started to walk away, as she could tell by the sound of his footsteps, "Oh, best you leave on your nightgown. I want you to go purchase a few things for dinner preparations, and we both know that you shouldn't stain your dress."

As he went back downstairs, Alyson groaned and stood up from her bed. She walked over to her mirror and ran a comb through her curls. Placing the comb down, she attempted to walk away only to be drawn back by the smooth surface. She put a hand on it, acting entrance before she started creating odd faces. She stuck her tongue out, crossed her eyes, and puffed out her cheeks, soon breaking into a giggle and leaving the room. She stopped at the table where her father was sitting rather impatiently with his foot tapping against the tiled floor. She spun on her heels, her hunger easing off slightly. "Actually, father, I think I'll go get those-"

"I'm not letting you leave this house with an empty stomach," he replied, interrupting her sentence, "Now eat, please." Alyson sighed with a nod and sat at the table where the two began to eat the stew that had been sitting on the table for the previous minute or so.

Prim was roughly seat down in a chair next to her brothers. The council began to speak about on goings of their shops and reports about others in the country. Prim lazily slumped in her chair and balanced a pencil on the table with her finger.

"Prim!"

She jumped and the pencil went flying, hitting a member. She laughed softly. She could feel the gaze of her fathers dark eyes piercing through her like a barrage of swords. She, with wide eyes, shrunk back down into her seat to were only her forehead showed. And soon enough the meeting was over.

"Prim, a moment please." Her father called out has her hands touched the grand doors.

"Yes father." She sighed and headed over to him. She sat through the same conversation every council meeting.

Haylee took out the bit of money she had left on her from her pants pocket. It was only enough to buy her one lousy piece of bread. Dang... I still have another week until I get more money from the orphanage. I'll have to go back to scavenging for a bit... She put her hair into her hat, pulling it down so she'd look like a rather feminine boy. Quickly walking into a nearby cafe, she offered the money, and sat down at a booth, eating the bread quite happily. As she gazed at the large walls in the distance, with the large castle blocking the view, her expression became forlorn. I wonder what life's like outside the castle. My parents wanted to get outside. It was their dream, so I'm going to make this my dream, too. One day, I'm going to escape and leave this god forsaken place.

After delivering the bread to the cafe, Spook was asked by the fruit stand lady across the street to bring some apples to the hardware shop owner as thanks for the repairs to her stand a few days prior. While on his way with the bag of apples, Spook noticed a group of tourists from somewhere in Minioke outside the Pits, their nicer clothes giving them away. Spook checked for guards, though they were pretty rare this close to Cesspool, and once he knew it was clear Spook decided to do some of his other work as an urban legend.

Sneaking through the crowd with ease, Spook got behind the tourists and brushed by them lightly from behind, disappearing back into the crowd as they turned to see what it was. After a few more iterations of doing that and similar little pranks, Spook was sure that they were thinking the Ghost of the Pits was responsible and so he went along on his way to deliver the apples. In the back of his mind, Spook was keeping his guard up since it seemed that there were more people from Cesspool here than usual, both the criminal and the simply impoverished. He wondered if today something might actually happen, instead of him just thinking something might.

What seemed to have been twenty minutes, to Prim, passed by. She stormed up stairs. You could hear the banging of her feet against the wooden stairs. Her bedroom door slammed shut and a clicking noise was heard, signaling Prim was grounded to her room and she had locked her door. She pushed her window doors open and leaned on the window seal. The wall seemed short from her room. I wonder... No I can, I can escape this town. Some how, some day. First I will be in need of friends though. But how? I seriously doubt anyone wants to be friends with a princess... besides Alyson. She moaned and went to her bed, thus face planting into it.

Slowly but surely, Milla made her way through the crowd, lifting wallets and purses from those who appeared affluent enough not to starve for a few days simply because she had stolen their money. That was her good deed for the day, as she avoided children. She knew the gnawing of hunger only too, as it rumbled in her flat stomach and disrupted her thoughts. Picking through the money she'd stolen, she picked out a few coins, brushing through the crowd and to the hot bread shop, where she bought a loaf and bit into it, tearing at the hard crust with her teeth.
