"Congratulations, Neverblue!" she congratulated the new deputy as she padded over to her. "You deserve being the deputy," she complimented.

Shellpaw frowned. You ruined it for yourself! She cursed himself and smiled at Lightningpaw and watched at Applepaw pounced on her back.
"I don't know if I have my assessment today," Applepaw said. Shellpaw decided the best way to get Lightningpaw to like him back was to start a conversation with her.
"I don't think my assessment is until next moon," He said, remembering how much older Lightningpaw was.


~I NEED A MENTOR!!!!~

Lightningpaw chuckled and batted at her sister playfully after she was off her back. "I could ask Froststar about it if you'd like." She told both Applepaw and Shellpaw. Her yellow eyes were bright with excitement, but one could tell if they looked hard enough that she wanted both her friends to become warriors with her.

Shellpaw smiled. He wondered what Lightningpaw thought of him. "That would be cool!" He said. He didn't know what else there was to say. He imagined becoming a warrior side by side with Lightningpaw, a whole night by her side. Shellpaw smiled. Maybe when he became a warrior he could tell Lightningpaw what he thought of her.

Shrewfang casually padded out of the small warrior den entrance, happy to be exposed to the open air of the clearing. He drew a dramatic breathe to express his relief and sense of well-being. The lean thing spotted two apprentices not too far away, and came over with a smile.

"Hi," he greeted the cute cats, and sat down with a swish of his fluffy tail. "Shellpaw, Lightningpaw, how are you both?"

"We'll just have to see, won't we? I really can't wait though." the long-legged she-cat kneaded her paws in anticipation. "After all our work, we finally get cool names!" hearing s familiar voice, she turned to see her sister's mentor, Shrewfang. "I'm terrific! how 'bout yourself?" the golden eyed she-cat chirped happily.

"Hi Shewfang!" Applepaw leaped to her paws and spun around to face her mentor. She could now stand eye-level to him: proof enough that she was ready to become a warrior! "Is my assessment today? Do you know? Cause Lightningpaw's assessment is today!"

Froststar sat down beside Lightningpaw."What are you waiting for?go.Go.GO."he said, batting her with his tail."And take it easy, don't rush it. You have all day."

Shellpaw nodded to the warrior. "Hello, Shrewfang!" He said. "Do you have any iea how far away my assessment is?" Shellpaw asked, wanting to know very badly.

~I need a mentor!! Someone!! ~

Lightningpaw stood from her spot, laughing. "My bad, my bad!" she called, trotting off and into the forest, fluffy tail flowing after her.

Shellpaw watched Lightningpaw race away. "So, Applepaw... I guess you'll be a warrior soon too." He said. "Um... do you think you could tell Lightningpaw that I..." He trailed off. Could he tell Applepaw? Or should he tell Lightningpaw himself. "Can you tell her that I've had a crush on her ever since I became and apprentice?" He asked, very fast. "I mean... please? I'll never be able to tell her myself!" Shellpaw mewed.

Applepaw pricked her ears and let out a sort of a breathless laugh. "I think everyone but her has realized that you two have something going on," she chuckled. The brown tabby bounced lightly on her paws and considered Shellpaw's question for a moment. "You should tell her yourself. Asking me to tell you would just be kind of awkward, hm? Because if she does like you back, then I'll have to play messenger and tell you. And if she doesn't (just a scenario, Shellpaw!) I'll have to beg you to not kill the messenger!" Applepaw laughed a little some more, but quickly sobered. "But in all seriousness, I think you should tell her yourself. Prove yourself a brave warrior. But, but, I can still tell her for you if you want!"

Shellpaw considered what Applepaw had said. "You think she might like me?" He asked. "Wow..." Shellpaw felt his cheeks grow warm. "I guess I could tell her when she gets back from her assessment." He said. "But I'll have to wait until I'm a warrior." He said.

~Well, I guess I can make an exception.Lightningstorm can make a third cat as long as it is Shellpaw's mentor~

Snakestar raised his tail for silence."There is another matter I will state.In two days, we will attack the clans!"He announced, and leaped off the rock to Neverblue."You will lead the first attack with half the clan, then I will come with a second wave to crush them."he told her, waiting for her approval.

Ebonywish snarled. "Isn't there a flaw in your plan, oh great one?" She asked as she prowled toward the leader. "How do we know that the Clans will all be in one place in two days?" She asked. Her tone mocked the leaders own, but in a way tha only she knew her voice held mockery.

Shellpaw looked at Applepaw. "So, I should ask when she gets back?" He asked. He looked around to see if Dogchaser was anywhere around so he could ask when his assessment was.

Lightningpaw ended up catching a few rabbits and a lucky mouse. Dragging her catch along, she had a wide grin on her maw.

Dogchaser padded into camp beside the long-legged she-cat, helping her carry her plentiful catch. His scarred pelt rippled, muscles running smoothly under his marred pelt as he strode to the fresh kill pile. "You did a fine job, Lightningpaw. A fit warrior, if I do say so." He grunted, dark eyes holding surprise that such a bright and energetic cat could hunt so successfully without scaring prey off.

Lightningpaw bowed her head respectfully. "Thank you very much. It was really mostly StarClan blessing my hunt for my Clan's sake." The golden eyed she-cat then lead the older warrior to where her sister and Shellpaw were. "I'm pretty sure you guys will be assessed soon!" She announced excitedly.

"Hello Dogchaser. I was just taking Clawkit out for a stroll," she said as she approached Dogchaser.

"Hi Lightningpaw. Nice catch," Clawkit blushed as he approached the she cat.

Dogchaser nodded to the queen. "How are you, Bloodheart?" he rumbled politely, his dark eyes respectful. He had a deep respect for Queens and felt they provided for the Clan more than anyone else since they brought life into the world through their pain.

Lightningpaw beamed brightly at Clawkit, padding over to him and dropping the mouse at his paws. "Thanks, squirt! Here, have the mouse. It'll surely turn you into a handsome warrior some day." the brown tabby promised, amusement in her honey-colored eyes.

Shrewfang purred and brushed past his cute apprentice. He leaned over and whispered in her ear; "Yes. You and Lightningpaw will come with me to take your assessment," he breathed. The brown cat winked and sat next to her. He noticed young Shellpaw, and sent her a wink too. "I think Dogchaser will allow you to take your assessment. You've trained very hard from what I saw."

Froststar padded into camp behind Lightningpaw."Well Lightningpaw, it looks that at sunhigh, we will have another warrior."He purred, and padded off to his den.
