Chapter 1- ShadowClan
The full moon shone coldly down at the gathering cats. Greetings whispered through the leaves, cats from different Clans mingled, sharing gossip and news...... All seemed well. But not for Icestar. Newleaf had arrived, true, but prey in the ShadowClan territory had not returned with the warmth and green leaves. The thick-furred leader winced again as she remembered the day when she had announced that they would now steal from ThunderClan territory until prey returned to ShadowClan. Icestar could steal feel the disbelief in her warriors' gazes, the scornful yowls from the elders, and the protests from her deputy and mate, Shadowstorm. Icestar fidgted, unwilling to greet other cats, not under Monkeystar's accusing yellow eyes. Brightstar paced along the branch above Icestar, driving away the newleaf chill with constant movement. The RiverClan leader had lapsed into uneasy silence ever since she'd seen Icestar, her closest friend out of RiverClan so quiet. Icestar sighed, remembering how Brightstar and her had grown up together. Apprentices, warriors, deputies, and, finally, their leadership. That was before her long, tiring leadership, before......... "Icestar, do you think we should start Icestar? Monkeystar says we should." Lotus-star;s meow broke in to her thoughts.
