There is a famine where the Packs live now, and it doesn't help that Twolegs and their sled dogs keep coming into their territories, stealing trees and vital prey. Already, the Pack of Setting Suns has broken up, most of their wolves dead or starving. Will the two enemies left-- Pack of Coming Night and Pack of Breaking Dawn-- be able to work together to survive?

The Two Packs go to the Meeting Place every half-moon when the light side of the moon represents the Pack of Breaking Dawn, and the dark side represents the Pack of Coming Night. (Last Quarter and First Quarter)

Outsiders:
They don't go to the Meetings, unless they want to. They are respected greatly and go where they please.

"No, not necessarily. But you could seem more aloof when we're with the other groups, or else it would raise questions. Do you see what I mean? Wolves: it is their nature to remain slightly independent, even when they are in a Pack," Celsius explained.

Zero shrugged. "I just thought it was weird how Resene was looking at Celsius. She was practically staring at him the whole Meeting."

"Good night. I'll be there in a bit." Deryk told Resene. He then turned back to Zero. "It was strange. I'll ask her about it." he barked.

Comet shook his head and snorted. "I'll try my best." he said reluctantly.

Faolan and Aldopha sat beside each other, Aldopha explaining everything about the gathering and what had happened. Faolan narrowed her eyes and said, "Staring at Celsius? Why?" Aldopha shrugged. They remained silent and Faolan barked. "Can we share an eagle?" Aldopha just nodded and padded over to the fresh kill pile picked up an eagle and padded back toward her sister. They started eating talking more about the gathering.

Comet sighed and stalked into the forest. "Training time." he whispered to himself with a chuckle. He always trained by himself so that he could protect what was precious to him. comet didn't want to lose any wolf close to him like he did his best friend, Cassie. He missed her and used her as fuel to train.

Zero nodded, and said, "good night." With a swish of his gray tail, he turned and bounded over to his nest.

"Thank you, Comet," Celsius rumbled. Then he turned and trotted over to Aldopha and Faolan.

Resene sighed, now where had she seen Celsuis eye's before?!Then she was struck by a awful memory. She was running through the snow, blood stained snow. Then a large shadowy figuar lunged out of the snow, she tried to run but it was faster and it caught up to her, grabbed her and flung her high into the air. She hit the ground with a thud and tried to run once more but it ran up to her, knocked her to the ground and pinned her down yanking out her right forepaws claws. Then Resene was back into reality and held up her right forepaw. All the claws were gone. Resene gasped frightendly.

Deryk was asleep next to Resene when he heard her gasp. "Wha? What's wrong?" he asked, standing up and looking around.

Comet padded back into the pack's cave and slumped into his sleeping spot, panting.

Aldopha smiled as Celsius approached. "Greetings." She barked smiling at her mate as Faolan tore at the eagle. Faolan swished her tail back in forth saying that she knew of Celsius's presence and she kept on eating. Aldopha giggled softly and rolled her eyes at her sister.

Celsius laughed in amusement (wolves laugh like dogs do! xD ). Celsius sat down beside Aldopha and asked, "What did you think of the Gathering?"

Resene was still shaking but she woofed "Just the same nightmare...nothing really..." she said still looking at her paw.

Founia smiled and called "Evil? Evil where are you?" Since there was no Beta male for this pack she thought she could turn her crush Evil, into the Beta male.

Comet forced himself to stand and padded out. He saw Celsius, Aldopha, and Faolan. He crept past them to get something to eat.

Deryk frowned and licked his mate's cheek. "I'm sorry." he said.

Resene shuddered and sighed "Oh well..." then forced her eyes to close and fell into an uneasy sleep.

Deryk layed down next to Resene, irritated that he couldn't help her get rid of her nightmares.

Celsius looked up as Comet padded past. "Spread the word that we're going hunting tomorrow," he ordered.

Aldopha yawned and stretched, "Well, Im going to go to sleep. Good night." She barked with a swish of her tail she padded into a den and curled up in her nest tucking her snout under her paw and tail.

Celsius padded in after Aldopha and curled up next to her, his chin resting on her flank.

Comet nodded, keeping his eyes on a delicious looking rabbit in the fresh kill pile. He then quickly trotted over to the freshkill pile and snatched the rabbit hungrily. He'd been hungrier than usual lately. Guess I'm growing. Comet thought as he devoured his rabbit.

Deryk couldn't sleep so he stood abruptly and stalked out of his den. "Guess I'll go for a run." he muttered.

Zero looked up from where he was digging a snow-hole for his nest (if you've read The Call of the Wild, you'll know. If you don't, wolves and sled-dogs do this so they can keep warm when they're sleeping at night if they don't have a cave. ) "Where are you going, Deryk?"

"For a run." Deryk replied, his muscles rippling under his pelt as he walked with large strides.

Zero dusted the snow from his paws. Without looking at Deryk in the eye, he asked, "Mind if I join?"

"Sure." Deryk replied. He then trotted away, soon turning it into a full on sprint.

Zero kept pace easily with Deryk. He had a narrower frame than his leader, which enabled him to move much faster. I want to become Alpha one day, maybe... Lengthening his stride, he slowly began to overtake Deryk. The wind whistled past his ears, and his tail streamed out behind him.

Deryk grinned and sped up a bit, not using a fraction of his speed yet. Though his frame was large, he was surprisingly quick.

Flicking his ears, Zero quickened his pace again, running ahead of Deryk.

Deryk raced past Zero, looking back at him triumphantly. His eyes widened as he face planted into a large oak tree.
