Flameblossom the sassy

Topaz the young ginger kit bounced around BloodClan camp happily. Her brother, Jay, ran up to her with a moss ball in his jaws.
"Hey, Topaz!" he mewed. "Wanna play?" Topaz nodded happily and shook her tail. She knocked the moss ball out of his jaws with her tail. Jay blinked in surprise and dove to steal it back from Topaz.
"Hey, we haven't started yet! That's no fair," Jay complained.
"Life's no fair," Topaz said, leaping on Jay and clawing at him with sheathed claws. Suddenly, a dark shadow loomed over them.
"Go away! We're playing," Topaz mewed without turning around. But when she did, it wasn't a cat. No, it was the sky. Dark clouds loomed over them threatening the Clan. The clouds completely blocked out the sun.
"Chill? Frost?" Topaz called for her other siblings in fear. Two other small kits ran over.
"W-What's going on?" Frost, Topaz's sister asked. Chill, Topaz's brother, shook his head.
"I don't know. It's scary," he meowed. All the BloodClan cats' attention was taken by the ominous clouds covering the sun. Suddenly, a rumbling shook the ground.
"An earthquake!" Scourge, Topaz's father, cried. He was also the leader of BloodClan. "Everyone abandon camp!"
Topaz's eyes widened. They never had to abandon camp. Chill and Jay ran out of camp in a hurry beside Scourge.
"Frost wait! I don't want to get lost," Topaz mewled. She stayed close to her sister. They were both the last ones out of camp. No cats were in sight. They'd gotten ahead of them.
"They probably headed towards the forest," Frost assumed. Topaz nodded they ran in the direction of the forest.

Days and days later, Topaz and Frost had yet to find their Clan. They were hungry, and only got water from puddles. Everything was so dark, with the clouds covering the sky and the tall trees.
"I think we went the wrong way," Topaz confirmed.
"You don't say?" Frost growled. "It's way too late to go back now. We should've gone back earlier." Topaz nodded.
"Y'know, I'm kinda glad we escaped dad. He was mean and never let us play or eat the good, juicy fresh-kill," she admitted. Frost nodded.
"But now we get no fresh-kill at all!" she meowed. Topaz sniffed.
"I miss Chill and Jay," she mewed so softly Frost could barely hear.
"We both do," Frost replied. "It's kind of dark. We should get some sleep." The two kits scanned around for a safe place to get some rest.
"There," Topaz pointed with her nose toward a bush with soft-looking leaves. They both agreed to sleep there for the night. Topaz curled up as tight as she could and as close as possible to Frost, much to her sister's annoyance. Topaz looked up at the sky, hoping painfully that her and her littermate could just be safe.

Topaz and Frost woke to vaguely familiar scent that made them both jump. A cat! Not a BloodClan cat, but possibly someone who could help them.
"Is it just or do you smell that?" Frost mewed quietly. Topaz nodded.
"Hello?" she cried.
"What are you doing? They're not just gonna help random kits in the middle of nowhere," Frost hissed. Topaz shrugged.
"They won't just leave us here to die," she said. "Cats aren't always THAT cruel." Frost shook her head.
"Don't blame me when we get our eyes clawed out," she said with a sigh. Suddenly, a brown she-cat leaped out from behind a bush.
"Homeless kits?! What are you doing in the middle of nowhere?" she asked worriedly.
"We were from BloodClan, but we lost our Clan," Frost explained. Topaz nodded.
"Do you have any food we would be able to have?" she mewled. Frost rolled her eyes. The she-cat nodded.
"Yes! Of course. I'm sure Snowstar will let you have some fresh-kill. She's our leader. My name is Sparkfire. I come from ThunderClan." Sparkfire guided Topaz and Frost through the forest. Even though Sparkfire had promised them safety, Topaz was shaking nervously.
"It's alright," Frost reassured her. "We'll be fine." Soon after a while of walking, Sparkfire walked through a bramble bush, but it was formed into a tunnel. Topaz and Frost followed her nervously. Behind it revealed a camp, thriving with other cats. In the center of the camp had a big pile of -
"Food!" Topaz exclaimed happily. Before she could run over to the pile of mice and voles, Frost stopped her with her tail.
"Not yet," she whispered. "We can't just ram into some camp and eat all their food." Topaz nodded. Suddenly, a white she-cat padded in front of them. She was tall and graceful with icy blue eyes.
"Snowstar, this is Topaz and Frost. They are loners kits desperate for food. They're tired and need shelter," Sparkfire told Snowstar. The leader nodded.
"Thank you, Sparkfire. That was the right thing to do," she commented. "We'll take them in. I'll give them kit names. I'm hoping you'll take good care of them, Sparkfire. Aside from their skinniness, they look like they would make good, strong warriors." Sparkfire nodded.
"Of course, Snowstar," she promised. Snowstar called for her Clan. The crowd of cats slowly gathered around her. Topaz and Frost padded up to her.
"These kits wandered into our territory. Sparkfire found them. They are harmless and in need of food. I've come to the decision of taking them in and giving them kit names. Sparkfire has promised to care for them until they become apprentices," she announced. Snowstar said that they would now be called Shimmerkit and Flamekit. Shimmerkit was named for her shimmery fur, and Flamekit was named for her fiery-colored pelt. Those are beautiful names! Topaz - now Flamepaw - thought. Snowstar winked at them both.
"Welcome to ThunderClan."

"Shimmerkit, STOP playing with my tail!" Sparkfire hissed. Shimmerkit giggled.
"Sorry, Sparkfire. I just wanted to hear you call me that," she mewed. Flamekit giggled, too. She joined Shimmerkit in the Tail Game.
"Flamekit! Shimmerkit! Knock it off!" Sparkfire hissed. Flamekit listened, but hissed at her softly. It had been a few moons since Flamekit and Shimmerkit had been known as Topaz and Frost. Flamekit didn't miss anyone in BloodClan at all, except for Chill and Jay.
"Ok, kits, I'm going on a border patrol. You stay here and keep out of trouble until I get back. We all know you're old enough to care for yourselves for a little bit," Sparkfire meowed, standing up and padding out of the nursery. Flamekit scoffed a few times before grabbing a moss ball in her jaws and tossing it to Shimmerkit. They played for a good amount of time before a yowl came from outside the den.
"A rogue! It was a rogue! But we drove him out," the warrior was saying.
"What's going on?" Flamekit asked. Everyone turned to look at her and her sister. They all looked sad. The warrior who was delivering the news was the one to tell them.
"It's Sparkfire," was all she said. Flamekit understood. Shimmerkit understood. Snowstar allowed them to sleep in the apprentices' den that night. Extra warriors were put on patrol that night to look for the rogue. Flamekit and Shimmerkit slept squeezed together that night, much like the night before they met Sparkfire.

Flamekit awoke to Shimmerkit prodding her in the side.
"Flamekit, GET UP!" she commanded. Flamekit hauled herself up and starting grooming herself.
"Snowstar said we're old enough to become apprentices today!" Shimmerkit mewed in joy. Flamekit's ears stood up and eyes widened.
"Well, get grooming yourself!" was all she said. The littermates padded into the clearing, quickly and quietly licking themselves. Snowstar stood on the highest rock, calling for the Clan to gather.
"Today these two kits are finally old enough to earn their apprentice names," she called. Flamekit and Shimmerkit stood tall and proud. Snowstar continued speaking, but Flamekit couldn't hear. She was looking at all the other Clan cats drawing their attention to her and her sister. Suddenly, everyone looked at Flamekit. She glanced at Shimmerkit. Shimmerkit nudged her.
"Say 'I do,'" she murmured to her. Flamekit gasped.
"Oh! Uh, yeah. I-I do," she mewed.
"Then by the power of StarClan, from this day forward until they earn their warrior names, these two kits will be known as Flamepaw and Shimmerpaw," Snowstar meowed. Flamepaw touched noses with Snowstar, as did Shimmerpaw.
"Flamepaw will be mentored by Foxfury," Snowstar said. Flamepaw looked around to find her new mentor. At last, she locked glances with another ginger cat. She leaped over to her and touched noses with her.
"Shimmerpaw will be mentored by Ghostfur," Snowstar said. Shimmerpaw did the same as what Flamepaw did. The two apprentices looked up at Snowstar.
"May StarClan light your path."
