Where Do You Think Warriors Takes Place?
Hey!
So since I started reading Warriors, this question always nagged me: where does Warriors take place? Obviously it would have to be someplace where it's temperate and natural-seasoned (as in snowy in winter, hot in summer, etc.)
Personally, I would think New York or perhaps either of the Dakotas. There's a thousand possibilities, but what do you think yourself?

I think it takes place in England.

I've actually looked it up, and originally, the forest territories were based on New Forest, in Hampshire, England. The Erins did change it from its real life description a bit though. (In real life there isn't a quarry nearby for example)

I was going to say that I was pretty sure that the authors of the books were english so it was probably based around there. Hampshire, England does sound like it would be pretty close though with what I looked up. It might depend on if you are talking about the new or old territories though.

What Streamfur said is basically true. Although, one has to be suspicious when they bring in mountain lions, who have never lived in England ever!

Re: Where Do You Think Warriors Takes Place?
This is what my Internet search said:
Apparently, the Erins said this:
In a fictional forest that the Erins described as having "a mix of the
flora and fauna native to both England and North America."
I think it would make most sense, because as Staree said, England doesn't have some of the things described in the books, like mountain lions, for example

I noticed that too. Lol they're found in the Rocky Mountains mostly. Rarely anywhere else since they are native to North America but it seems different references say different things.

Interesting question you posed, Torrent My grade 5 teacher would give you an A+ for good application of Bloom's Taxonomy to reading skills.
If I didn't assess the geographic features and details of the books, I would guess America. The countrysides seem to fit the territory and atmosphere quite well. The moon rock is puzzling to me.
Reading your inquiries on this subject, wow you guys know your Erinology. England seems logical as well, since the climate is accurate.

So now i guess ill go with the next question here. Anyone know what the moon rock and the moon pool were supposed to be based on? Or does anyone have theories?
I also thought the idea of silverpelt was interesting since, from what I experienced in England, there weren't many places you could actually go and see the stars well since pretty much the second you left one city, yu entered another.

Re: Where Do You Think Warriors Takes Place?
I never thought it'd take place in England. I always thought some rural, out-of-the-way place, where hundreds of cats could live undisturbed, see the stars, have an unpolluted forest and stuff.
I'm just randomly theorizing here, but maybe the Moonstone was based on those fictional rocks that gave a person powers on contact with it. I think the Moonpool was just based on the Moonstone-- the Erins were just searching for a variation. Or holy water? Idk.

Re: Where Do You Think Warriors Takes Place?
Interesting question, Torrentheart. Seems like a good discussion topic
I myself would prefer to believe it takes place somewhere near the Rockies, but the place having a temperate climate and varied flora and fauna, because some of the detailed plants and animals described don't generally live in the same environments. Possibly South Dakota? However, I did research it a little myself and it does take place in a 'fantasy forest full of the flora and fauna found in North America and the United Kingdom', or something relatively close to that.
I don't think the Erins planned out where exactly Warriors took place very well. They most likely did intend it to take place in Great Britain but then when the question was asked changed it around because they realized their details didn't fit one specific place very well. :p

Actually just a random thing i though i would throw out there, the city i live in is actually almost exactly like its described in the books if we are looking at the plants, wildlife and the different types of terrains that the clans live in. All of the "herbs" described in the books are capable of growing here and we even have the mountain lions. And yes as Ivythorn suggested i do actually live right where the Great Plains meat the Easter face of the Rocky Mountains.

I would say somewhere near the Rockies, but I'm not quite sure about all the other places they go.

I think Warriors take place in varied places, with some imagined points, like the Moonstone. I have never really seen a place where you travel a few kilometres, you go from the city to the campground, or from the bog to the mountains. But of course, you won't find a group of cats there, since cats are solitary in reality.

Re: Where Do You Think Warriors Takes Place?
The Moon stuff is really quite strange o_O
The only possible thing I can think of it being is just a crystal formation: maybe a lump of quartz, or something of higher value. It is in a cave, after all. Where the inspiration came from, I'd imagine it to be a fortune teller's mystic ball or something, but in nature.
The Moonpool is just no. I somewhat agree with Bright that it was probably just another variation.Maybe it was unicorn blood.
Though it may have just been a regular pond of water that had glittery stones (again, probably quartz) at the bottom, causing it to look really spectacular.

Re: Where Do You Think Warriors Takes Place?
I always thought Warriors took place in the US by the Rockies. The mountains would have to be nearby maybe close enough for cats to journey back and forth. It couldve taken place in the Himalayas or some other mountain range but the Himalayas are too cold and high. Although I guess the Appalachians could also work.

The wildlife isn't right for the application mountains though. And there aren't many trees aside from types of pine trees in the actual mountains themselves from what I saw there.

I have seen a group of cats living together before. Out in the woods, there is this group of cats, who are half-tame, (people leave out food for them sometimes, and they'll sort of come close to you, but not close enough to touch them) My family and I were waiting out there and had set out a bowl of catfood, and first, a gray cat had come out, and was making sure we were safe, before it went to the food. A little after the gray one came out, there was a black and white one, who was constantly watching us. Eventually, they felt safe enough to try the food, and more cats came out. (If they were a clan, I'd say that the gray one was leader, and the black and white one was deputy). There were a bunch of adult cats (the warriors) and a bunch of kit and apprentice aged cats. The leader and deputy cat ate first, then the warriors, then the kits/apprentices. There were quite a few cats there, and it reminded me of the warriors clans. Sorry for getting sorta off topic.
I'm unsure about the moon stuff, but they probably chose the use the word moon since it is in the night sky with the stars and would go with Starclan. Maybe they were thinking of different things the moon could possibly reflect off of?

Hey, that's cool! o: I've never seen a bunch of feral/stray cats living together. In our neighborhood, people mostly have dogs. My neighbor had several cats once, but one died from old age, another one got eaten, and the last one ran away. The one that ran off, was a black cat and I really liked him. ^-^ He was a pretty good hunter and he liked hanging around our house. His name was Oscar. Anyways, maybe the Erins based the Warriors on something like that, Streamfur, if they saw something like that happen?

I Always look out my window and wonder if the Warriors series could take place outside my hose which it very well could. That forest goes on forever and there could be mountains way out. And also, I live right next to a swamp, but I've never seen random cats wandering around in the woods and catching mice. Plus my house has no fence around the yard. XD
