Happy New Year! A word from the Tech Admin ~

Happy New Year! Hello all!
Hope you've had a wonderful holiday season.

For those who already know me, I'm Dragonclaw, WCF's head technical operations administrator. For those who are new and don't know me, a warm welcome to our forum!

As many of you may know, I've been on leave for the past few months due to school. First semester is finally over, but I've not come back empty handed. Throughout the previous months, I've worked with top coding professionals and amassed a comprehensive arsenal of tricks. Which means new features for you!

For 2013, you'll definitely be seeing me around more. Here are just a few things we're planning for this year:

- WCF Youtube webseries and more videos!
- Official site RPGs
- Competitions, events, games, and more
- Site expansion!
- Giveaways courtesy of Shuriken (IceClan leader)
- More badges and opportunities to earn them!
- Autosave feature (click here to learn more)
- And that's not even the beginning...

I realize I've received many private messages in my absence, so I will be attending to those shortly. If your request is already done (handled by a GM or by Bot), please feel free to send me a notice, so I won't accidentally do your request again (ie: shop order, etc).

I love it, Draggy! A few of us have lately been trying to make an effort to recruit new members and in our praise we have been successful. There's probably a few more coming in so you and Bot should probably check that I hope we can make this memorable!!!!!!

Hey guys, quick update!

Tech and I have already begun development of an auto-save feature for posts as described by Doveshine in the Site Suggestions.

We've launched it as of 11:59AM 1/5/12 CST. Tell us what you think!

Here's a run-down of how it works.
When typing on private message or new topic/post, every once in a while, you will get a notification that the post has been autosaved.
When you're typing a message, the system saves it periodically, so it can be restored when you move away from the page. Thus, you do not lose your message!

Upon return of the post, you will be asked if you would like to restore your previously typed post.
Post a reply and test it out. Simply refresh the page after you've spent maybe 30 seconds and a pop-up should appear prompting you for restore.

And that's about it, tell me what you think, any suggestions or comments are always appreciated. We're currently working on expanding it across the board.

Omg this is the best update so far. It's so frustrating when you're in the middle of a huge post and then your computer crashes or something. I'm prett sure it happened to all of use at one point. xD Good job Tech Team!

The autosave thing sounds interesting. I always lose my posts when the page automatically reloads.
I'm glad to hear about new opportunities to obtain badges and the like Now we can collect them and have something to show off I think the features are pretty unique so there is now a greater chance that new members will stay active and participate enthusiastically. I love Official RPGs too

Contests I love the ones that are completely uneducational and rely on creativity and cleverness the most ^^
